OSTEOPATHIC MANUAL PRACTITIONERS
Osteopathic Manual Practitioners are trained to feel very subtle changes that are present in all body tissues. The impact of injuries and illnesses can cause a wide variety of issues in the head and other parts of the body. Applying both voluntary and involuntary motion in the tissues or fascial system, Osteopathic Manual Practitioners can feel whether a person is fairly healthy, or whether there is a restriction that is preventing healthy movement of the tissues from occurring.
The practitioner's goal is to treat the cause of dysfunction as soon as it has been detected. If left untreated, such dysfunctions will present themselves in the form of functional impairments, weakened defence systems, impaired balance, and most often in the form of pain.
Methods often used by Osteopathic Manual Practitioners include Osteo-articular joint movements, visceral osteopathy, sacral osteopathy, cranial osteopathy, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release techniques.
